Blocks the adrule id: pay-transparency

Pay transparency: where a job ad must show a pay range

In a growing list of US states and DC, advertising a job without a pay range is itself a violation.

Where the rule comes from

As of 2026, pay-range disclosure laws for job postings are in effect in California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington. Employer-size thresholds, remote-work coverage, and what counts as a "range" differ by state; check the state's official guidance for the details that apply to you.

What the check flags

An ad with no pay figure for a job located in one of those regions. Outside them, the same gap is a warning rather than an error.

Flagged

  • “Competitive pay, DOE”
  • “Pay discussed at interview”
  • “Salary commensurate with experience”

Says the same thing, passes

  • “$18–21/hr depending on experience”
  • “$62,000–$70,000 per year”
  • “$180/day, paid weekly”

Worth knowing

HirePromo puts the pay range in the first frame of every ad. A missing range is flagged so leaving it out is a choice you make on purpose.

How HirePromo handles it

The parser rewrites the problem out of your ad copy, the original wording is shown to you with this rule cited, and the pack can't be ordered until the finding is fixed.
